If you are craving a carbohydrate treat, than you will have to take a ride down south to the next town called Ochojal. It’s about a 10-15 minute drive but the town definitely has the best food to offer in the entire south. When we are down there, we always visit the local “French” bakery, which opens on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. They have amazing French and other types of bread. However, do make sure to call ONE day in advance and order prior to going. The owner won’t be amused if you don’t (and he won’t have any bread for you either ;-). Unfortunately I can’t find his phone number but when you get into Ochojal, go up the main road. Pass Exotica restaurant, keep on the left, pass the small bridge, than turn right and continue on this road. The bakery is on the right hand side. If you are lost, just ask for the French bakery!
I first came to Costa Rica in 1998. I fell in love with the country right away for so many reasons. I have been coming, living and unfortunately never staying off and on since.
